The wilderness terrain in the area provides the variety required to teach Wilderness Tripping, Search And Rescue and Wilderness First Aid skills to prepare participants to be able to function effectively and efficiently as Wilderness Trip Leaders and Search and Rescue personnel. |
30 minutes south of Webbwood, you will find our 40 acre piece of wilderness located on the eastern edge of Moose Lake (Evangeline Lake). We are surrounded by Crown Land and access is by boat or trail. The property is situated about 1.5 km north of the La Cloche Ridge. The La Cloche Ridge runs from Killarney Park, through La Cloche Provincial Park to Blind River in the east. (Picture taken from boat launch on west side of Moose Lake, early morning)

La Cloche Mountains The legend of the La Cloche Mountains says that these rocks were Aboriginal tocsins (warning bells) used for signaling. The “Bell Rocks” when struck could be heard for a considerable distance. Hence, the area was named with the French word for “bell” — La Cloche.
